Sedona Main Street Nominates Eleven (11) for State Awards

Sedona, AZ - August 13, 2008 - Sedona Main Street Program is honored to submit eleven nominations for the 2008 Arizona Main Street Awards. It is a great opportunity to give recognition to the people who contribute to and invest in our community by giving their time, effort, passion and dollars to make the Sedona Main Street District a special place. Please join us in acknowledging all of the nominees.

These annual awards have been presented to Arizona Main Street Communities since 1992. There are nine (9) awards for 2008, in four categories that relate to the National Main Street Four-Point approach: Organization, Business Enhancement, Design and Promotion.

Finalists are expected to be announced by late August, in anticipation of the Awards Ceremony during Governor's Rural Development Conference (September 24th through 26th).  Governor Napolitano will recognize all Finalists and Award Winners during the Governor's Luncheon at the conference on Friday September 26th.

The 2008 Governor's Rural Development Conference (GRDC) theme is "Many Communities - One Arizona". Economic developers, business leaders, community leaders and stakeholders from across the state will gather at Carefree Resorts & Villas in Cave Creek- Carefree.

Sedona Main Street Program is one of the fifteen (15) Main Street Communities in Arizona. The Arizona Main Street Program, under the direction of Lisa Henderson-Program Coordinator, is part of the Arizona Department of Commerce/Rural Development Office. Each community has the opportunity to submit nominations. All nominations are evaluated and voted upon by a selected panel of impartial judges.

Sedona Main Street Program has been honored with finalists and winners of the Annual Arizona Main Street Awards each year since 1997, the year after its inception.
